Check Turkey off my list

I made my very first turkey this year! Special thanks goes out to my wonderful parents who were the sue chefs. Along with all the wonderful guests who adventured out and ate my bird. Thank you.
The bird
I found some presents inside (heart, liver, and some other things)
Detaching the skin from the meat
Making the season to put in the turkey
This is where Dad stepped in...(I may or may not have been a little mad)
The finished seasoning
Stuffing the bird (yes I was able to wear sweet gloves)
Adding the chicken broth (please shield your eyes from the broken skin, I fixed it later)
More stuffing
In the oven it goes
IT'S FINISHED!

The Ultimate Thankful Thursday

Happy Turkey day!!

I have so much to be thankful for, the list could go on and on and on and on.... I noticed how easy it is to take for granted the things you have. Nothing lasts forever and I am learning how to recognize my blessings and be thankful for them.

I am thankful....
for two parents who love each other. (even if it is gross when they kiss next to me :P)

that my turkey did not burn or dry out!

For a God that protects and loves me

For a healthy growing family

for my independence

that I have amazing roommates

that I have the opportunity to go visit my sister in 22 days!

Tony, Rob, Karen, Ian, Paul, Sarah......

I wish I were better at remembering a person's name. The other day someone that I have only met once over a year ago came up to me and said, "Hey SHEA, How are you?" I loved that this person used my name. It made me feel like this person really cared about how I was doing. I suck at remembering names. I am going to due my best to pay more attention to using peoples name. But just in case I call you buddy, dude, or friend instead of your name, I am truly sorry.

Baby Shower

My sister in law is Pregnant and is due on Jan. 1, 2011 (1/1/11)! I am soo soo excited I am going to be an Aunt again. The baby is a girl and they are naming her Morgan Grace Sanden. Morgs and I already have a strong bond because we will be sharing a name... Shea MORGAN Sanden and MORGAN Grace Sanden. I am so excited to meet this bundle of joy.
We celebrated by throwing Allison a baby shower this weekend. It was great seeing old friends and family. I even won a game... actually two, but I only got one prize.

Drew and Allison you guys are going to be great parents and I am so excited to watch your family grow. I love you guys!

I never read the books... but I do love a good movie.

Yes, it's true... I never read any of the Harry Potter books. But I am a big fan of the movies! So I went to my first Harry Potter Premiere this week with 50 of my closest friends. I sat in line for a total of 6 hours, but some of our friends waited 11. We played Indian Poker, Catch Phrase, and and new version of Big Booty called "Big Harry". Best part of the night (besides the movie) was watching everyone run into the theater trying to find the perfect seat.
I have to say that this Harry Potter movie is by far my favorite! Cant wait to see part 2 in July!

Little Personal Journey

I started reading a new book today.
Dana's mom gave us both a copy of the book Waking the Dead by John Eldredge.

It's a really interesting book. I am only on the first chapter, but I would recommend you read it at some point. (At least the first 13 pages.)

I am on a little personal journey to find out what it means to truly live the life that God has planned for me. This book will be an insightful tool to figure it all out.

Stay tuned for updates on my little personal journey.

The glory of God is man fully alive.

Family Dinner

I love to cook. I love taking something plain and creating one wonderful meal. I love it so much I am even thinking about culinary school after college... just thinking about it that's all. I love seeing the expression on peoples faces after I created a wonderful meal. I am new to this whole thing, so many of the recipes are being made for the first time. Many things have been a success, but I am sure some failures are to come. The great thing is my roommates have no problems being my little lab rats and they will eat pretty much anything.

I have my parents to thank for most of these scrumptious recipes. I get my passion for cooking from them. So... THANKS MOM AND DAD!
For the main course (and only course) we had homemade Pot Roast with a side of mash potatoes and homemade gravy and a little biscuit.

(This was taken with my phone so it looks gross, but it tasted great)
